Bill O'Reilly has refused to take back his hate speech encouraging the terrorists to bomb San Francisco. Now, he has become even more brazen, threatening to publish the names of the people and left-wing websites who discuss his smear:
Fairly typical comments from O’Reilly. But he added an unusual twist. O’Reilly promised to publish the names of everyone who supported these “internet smear sites” on his website:
I’m glad the smear sites made a big deal out of it. Now we can all know who was with the anti-military internet crowd. We’ll post the names of all who support the smear merchants on billoreilly.com. So check with us.
It’s unclear where O’Reilly would find such a list. But since he has labeled everyone who supports websites like MediaMatters.org and ThinkProgress.org as “anti-military” it seems to be an effort to intimidate and shame our readers.
This is typical; previously, he has threatened to stalk the houses of callers who called in and debunked his right-wing talking points. This is similar to Richard Nixon, who made an "enemies" list of all people who he thought were conspiring to destroy the White House. Nixon was a very paranoid individual who thought the whole world did not appreciate him and thought they were out to get him.
Bill O'Reilly has shown a complete inability to answer the arguments of the left with any kind of clarity. So, he resorts to stuff like this. When the right lowers themselves to this level, you know they are desperate and are losing the debate.
Furthermore, this illustrates the hypocrisy of a lot of people within the media. They focus on Howard Dean's anger and try to paint him as an angry individual who can go off on you at any minute. But then, they ignore the raving lunatic in their midst. Why is it OK for Bill O'Reilly to act like this, and not Howard Dean?
